Programme 05

ChAdOx1 Plague (F1 + V)

Same vector platform as the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine

A replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus, ChAdOx1, carrying genes for F1 and V. It is the same vector family as Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine. This trial is not AstraZeneca’s: the sponsor is the University of Oxford and the funder is Innovate UK. Phase 1 in about 40 healthy adults, protocol OVG 2019/05, registry ISRCTN41077863, opened in July 2021. One or two intramuscular doses. No marketing authorisation.

Viral vector

A virus that does not cause plague carries genes for plague antigens. One candidate uses ChAdOx1, the same chimpanzee adenovirus as Oxford's COVID-19 vaccine. Another is an adenovirus construct still in primates.
